As costs continue to rise in the film industry, this includes oil prices, there is a trend to reduce the film thickness. The manufactures have come up with ways to keep the strength while reducing material. The corrugated industry has done the same thing in a additional effort to be more effective with resources. This “Source Reduction” directly relates to these products efforts to be “green” as we use fewer resources.

You the customer and user need to understand what you are purchasing as these products continue to change. It is great to save resources but if the carton or stretch film does not perform for your process or product it does not meet your needs. After years of working with various customers and packaging specifications it has become apparent that we as customers have not kept up with changes in products we buy. These trends directly affect our products ability to get to market. Therefore I suggest you contact your various suppliers and work closely with them to come up with engineered solutions for your needs. This is accomplished every day in the corrugated, bag and film world. This approach will not be any more costly and will yield the best packaging for the money you spend.
